A members-only club where you answer one daily question, chat online first, then meet in small groups at cafes. No swiping. No followers. Just real conversation.
Answer one thoughtful prompt each day. See how others nearby think.
A short group video chat before meeting. For safety and alignment.
5-6 people at a quiet cafe. Real conversation, not networking.
Application-based. We accept ~20 members per week.
We removed everything that makes social apps feel exhausting.
Each step builds trust naturally. No awkward cold meetings.
Each day, you get one thoughtful prompt. Write a short, honest answer. Browse how others nearby responded. It's a window into how people think—no photos, no performative bios.
Before meeting in person, you'll hop on a casual group video experience. It's low-pressure - just a vibe check. This way, you know what to expect from the community and experience before you show up IRL.
If the online experience feels good, we invite you to a small in-person meetup with a group matched on vibes, personality and interests. Quiet venue, some structure to get conversation going, and room to be yourself. That's it.
Actual App Store reviews from Somo members
"Made for people looking for non-addictive socializing that offers genuine connections for friendship."
"There's no pressure to 'advertise' yourself. Online connections translate seamlessly to IRL chemistry."
"I went from answering prompts quietly to sitting at a cafe with five strangers that didn't feel like strangers."
"If meaningful connections are dying in today's context, SOMO brings them back with quiet panache."
No. Somo is for friendship and meaningful connection. We don't have matching or swiping. Groups are mixed and the vibe is conversational, not romantic.
We're building a curated community of thoughtful people. The application helps us maintain quality and ensure everyone shares similar intentions.
That's why we do online-first. You'll chat with the group before meeting. Venues are public cafes. And groups are small (5-6 people), never 1-on-1.
That's completely fine. Some meetings become friendships, some don't. There's zero pressure to stay connected. That's intentional.
The app is free to use. We charge a small fee for events. For offline meetups, you pay for your own food/drinks at the cafe.
Usually within 48 hours. We review applications personally, so sometimes it takes a bit longer during busy periods.
No commitment. Just one conversation to see how it feels. We're accepting ~20 new members per week in Bangalore.
