the category failure

Most platforms help you find a table. somo club designs what happens when you get there.

A table can put six interesting people in a room. It cannot guarantee that anything interesting happens. We design the group, the games, the pacing and what comes next.

THE USUAL TABLE Here's a room full of strangers.

Good luck. Try asking what everyone does for work.

a somo club table The room has a rhythm.

Play first. Talk naturally. Go deeper only when the table is ready.

  1. Pick your table

Choose a neighbourhood, time and experience. Every table has exactly six seats.

  2. Show up alone

Most people do. Nobody arrives with a clique, and nobody needs an opening line.

  3. Let the app break the ice

Games and prompts give the room momentum, equal turns and something better to talk about.

  4. Stay in each other's orbit

Choose who you want to know better. If the choice is mutual, messaging opens inside the app.

the interaction design

We don't manufacture the spark. We design the room where it is more likely to happen.

Six is enough energy for surprise and small enough that nobody becomes background scenery.

6

Six, not sixty

Big enough that it never stalls. Small enough that everyone gets seen and heard.

play

Play before performing

Games remove the pressure to be instantly interesting and give everyone a shared experience.

pace

A room with a rhythm

The experience moves from playful to revealing without forcing intimacy before the table is ready.

both

Mutual, not awkward

No contact-detail exchange at the table. Connections open only when you both want them to.

between tables

A good night shouldn't become six dead contacts.

Finding a table is easy. Turning one good evening into an actual relationship is harder. One shared question each day gives people a natural reason to keep discovering how the city thinks.

What's the smell of the house you grew up in?

“Kerosene stove and the jasmine my grandmother strung every evening. Rain made both louder.”

Bangalore is already hard enough to cross.

This was one of the best meetups I've had in a long time. Huge thanks to Tarun and everyone for making it such a memorable experience. Grateful for the conversations, the energy, and the people.

somo club tables help me skip small talk and befriend new people over a shared experience. Every table I've attended has been exciting, light-hearted with a touch of depth, and overwhelmingly earnest.

A M Early 40s · 📖 The storyteller

“The table is only the scaffolding. The real product is that moment when six strangers stop feeling like strangers.”

Questions

Before you take a seat.

What is somo club?

somo club creates six-person social experiences in Bangalore. The app guides the games, pacing and conversation so nobody has to host, perform or fill the silence.

Can I join a somo club table alone?

Yes, and most people do. Every table is designed for people who arrive without knowing anyone. The group is always exactly six, and the app carries the entire experience so nobody has to make small talk.

What do other members see about me?

Less than you'd expect. somo club doesn't show full names or real photographs in the app. Your full name only becomes visible once you and another person have both chosen to connect. Contact details are never shown.

How do I stay in touch with people I liked?

Through the app. Nobody needs to swap phone numbers or social handles at the table, and somo club never shares contact details. After a table you choose who you'd like to stay connected with. If that person chooses you too, messaging opens inside the app.

Is somo club a dating app or a networking group?

Neither. somo club is designed for genuine social connection. Dating-style solicitation, sales pitching and asking people for contact details before you've met are not allowed.

Where in Bangalore do tables happen?

somo club runs cafe circles and game nights across Indiranagar, Koramangala, HSR Layout, Jayanagar, JP Nagar and Whitefield. The exact neighbourhood is shown before you book.

Are there online experiences?

Yes. somo club runs online sessions for members who can't make an in-person table. Formats include Listening Room and other prompt-led experiences for six people.

How much does it cost to join somo club?

The app is free to download and some online sessions are free during beta. In-person cafe tables start around ₹300 for the seat. At cafe socials you order and settle your own food and drinks directly with the venue, so you're never paying for a package you didn't choose.

Is somo club good for introverts?

It's built for them. A six-person table means everyone gets a turn without competing for airtime, venues are chosen for low volume, and the app structures the conversation in rounds. Quieter people don't have to fight their way into a conversation or perform to be included.
