Listening Room #22: Songs You Met Through a Screen

Free

There's a specific reflex a screen has on people. The scene ends, the credits roll, an ad cuts to black — and somehow a song is already lodged in your head, playing on a loop it didn't ask permission for. Everyone has one. Almost nobody agrees on which. This session is about that reflex. The song you didn't go looking for, but a movie, a game, an anime opening, or a 30-second ad handed to you anyway — image first, sound second. The one you still can't hear without seeing the scene. The rare one that eventually broke free and became just yours, no screen attached. We'll press play together through Spotify Jam and listen as a group. Why does a scene weld itself to a song so permanently? And why do some songs escape the screen entirely, while others never do? What to expect No video call — just music and conversation in chat. I'll drop a few prompts during the session, and you bring one song for each. Some will come with the scene attached — the film, the ad, the game, the moment it wouldn't leave you alone. Type as much or as little as you want. By the end, we'll have a shared somo playlist stitched together from everyone's screens. Before you join Spotify is recommended for the best experience, but if you don't have it, you can listen in through a Zoom call. Bring your headphones and something for the hour after it stops. 🎧 This is a FREE event. But RSVP is required.
