Listening Room #23: Songs You Know Wrong

Free

For about eleven years you sang a line with total confidence. It was not the line. Nobody told you, because everyone around you was busy getting a different line wrong. This session is for that. The lyric you invented and committed to. The cover you assumed was the original until someone corrected you, rudely. The sped-up version that reached you first, so now the real one sounds slow and slightly off. The song you were certain was about a breakup and is actually about a dog. We'll press play together through Spotify Jam and listen as a group, and yes, you should tell us your wrong version before you play the right one. Why do these stick so hard? What makes a song you half-heard more yours than one you got right? What to expect No video call — just music and conversation in chat. I'll drop a few prompts during the session, and you bring one song for each. Some will need an explanation, and a couple will need an apology. By the end, we'll have a shared somo playlist of songs nobody in the room knows correctly. Before you join Spotify is recommended for the best experience, but if you don't have it, you can listen in through a Zoom call. Bring your headphones and one lyric you'd have sworn on. 🎧 This is a FREE event. But RSVP is required.

Sunday, Sep 27, 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM
