Listening Room #21: The Rain Room

Free

There's a specific reflex Bangalore has. The sound changes, the light goes flat, and within about four seconds you're reaching for a song. Everyone has one. Almost nobody agrees on which. This session is about that reflex. The song for rain you're stuck out in, not rain you're watching from a window. The one attached to a particular downpour and a particular year. The one that isn't sad at all, because rain doesn't only mean one thing, whatever every playlist called Monsoon Feels would have you believe. We'll press play together through Spotify Jam and listen as a group. Why does weather do this to us so reliably? Why do six people in the same city, hearing the same rain, reach for six completely different songs? What to expect No video call — just music and conversation in chat. I'll drop a few prompts during the session, and you bring one song for each. Some will come with a story about where you were and how wet you got. Type as much or as little as you want. By the end, we'll have a shared somo playlist that should hold up for the rest of the season. Before you join Spotify is recommended for the best experience, but if you don't have it, you can listen in through a Zoom call. Bring your headphones and something for the hour after it stops. 🎧 This is a FREE event. But RSVP is required.
